ITINERARY
(In winter, Southern Pakistan offers a tranquil setting to explore the wonders of the region of five rivers, Punjab.
Each day opens a new corridor of mild adventure, thriving archaeological sites, architecture, rich culture, and landscape.
The Cholistan Desert covers 26,300 square kilometres of land.
Its name derives from the Turkish term “CHOL,” meaning desert, earning it the title Land of the Desert.
The Cholistan people have a semi-nomadic lifestyle, constantly moving to find water and pastures for their animals.
We begin by appreciating Multan’s Islamic Sufi monuments.
The silky smooth waters of the Indus River welcome us after exploring the city of Sufis.
We travel to the magnificent Cholistan Desert, often known as “The Land of Lost River,” where joyous nomads greet us.
The culture here is unique, with brightly coloured clothing and subtle needlework worn by men and women.
To reach Derawar Fort, an enormous fort standing in the middle of nowhere, we traverse the untamed desert terrain.
The fort once served as the quarters of the Nawab of Bahawalpur.
The Thar Desert in Sindh and the Rajasthan Desert in India continue into Cholistan.
Our journey begins in Islamabad and concludes in Lahore, a historic city and Pakistan’s cultural capital.
